Powder Coating

Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The main difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that the powder coating does not require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form. The coating is typically applied electrostatically and is then cured under heat to allow it to flow and form a "skin".

The powder may be a thermoplastic or a thermoset polymer. It is usually used to create a hard finish that is tougher than conventional paint. Powder coating is mainly used for coating of metals, such as "whiteware", aluminium extrusions, and automobile and bicycle parts.

Sand Blasting

Sand blasting or abrasive blasting is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants. At PPC Coatings we use a blast room for sandblasting.

A blast room is a larger version of a blast cabinet and the blast operator works inside the room. A blast room includes three of the four components of a blast cabinet: the containment structure, the abrasive blasting system and the dust collector.

A lot of our jobs are Car or Motorbike Restorations but there’s no job too big or too small, we'll blast them all. e.g Cars, bikes, motorbikes, boats, doors, massive tanks, machinery, tools. The list goes on and on. We have a lot of different grades of media for all types of Blasting. For instance we have 3 different grades of soda. We also have 4 coarser grades of media for heavier stripping all delivering the same great results.

When it comes to restoring vehicles we can do all your sandblasting as well as powder coating. Paint filler and rust removal are a specialty at PPC Coatings and we pride ourselves in doing the best job for you. When it comes to sandblasting a car, the main risk is that the metal panels can warp and become damaged. For this reason it is safer to pay a professional to do it and PPC Coatings are experts in this field.
